Since its installation in February, the panels have generated 7,650kWh of power and reduced CO2 emissions by around one tonne as of the start of August. 
The project met the CCAF objectives for green communities and resilience and energy as the solar panels reduce the building’s environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future. The panels are saving money on energy bills and demonstrate a commitment to energy saving initiatives to local people and the wider community that use the building. 
Councillor Robert Mocatta, East Hampshire District Council portfolio holder for Regeneration and Prosperity (which includes climate and environment), said: 
“This CCAF project is a great example of providing energy independence and minimising costs while reducing the environmental impact of running a building. 
“If anyone reading this has a project that can achieve similar things for their local community and help the district to be carbon net zero by 2050, I encourage them to start work on their CCAF application.”
Councillor Keith Budden, Chair of Liss Parish Council, said: 
“We are proud to take a proactive lead on local climate action. Installing these solar panels ensures that this vital community building is operating on a sustainable, environmentally friendly footing for generations to come. This project demonstrates that parish councils can make a meaningful impact in the fight against climate change while remaining responsible custodians of public assets”. 
The fifth round of CCAF applications is now open and will close at 11.59am on Monday 5 October 2026.
