CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. (WBBJ) – A new solar farm is officially online in Carroll County, designed to power local homes and businesses for decades.
The Carroll County Electric Department and Tennessee-based Silicon Ranch flipped the switch this morning on the Trezevant Solar Farm.
The project will feed low-cost, clean electricity into the local grid and lock in predictable rates for customers over the next 30 years.
About 100 STEM students toured the American-made energy site, which will also be used for livestock grazing to improve soil and wildlife habitat.
During today’s ceremony, organizers paused to honor lineworker Chance Carlton, who was killed while restoring power after severe storms last April. His wife, Samantha, helped dedicate the new facility in his memory.
