West Bengal-based solar module manufacturer Vikram Solar Limited has entered into a Domestic Solar Cell Supply Agreement with Avaada Electro Limited. In a press release, Vikram Solar said that under the agreement, Avaada Electro will supply 1 GW of ALMM-compliant, domestically manufactured, half-cut N-Type G12R TOPCon solar cells for Vikram Solar’s module manufacturing operations. Vikram Solar’s own cell making plans are yet to come online, pushing the module maker to seek deals for domestic cells to serve customers.
As per the plan, deliveries are scheduled to begin in September 2026, ensuring a consistent supply and operational continuity to meet the country’s growing DCR requirements. Vikram Solar said that under the agreement, it would procure N-Type G12R TOPCon solar cells for approximately Rs. 1,250 crore.
Avaada Electro is among the few other companies that have shifted their listed solar cell portfolios towards larger-format G12R N-type TOPCon technology, according to the latest revision of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM-II) for solar PV cells.
Ithas expanded its portfolio from G12 18-busbar TOPCon cells to G12R 16-busbar variants. Its latest listing includes both N-G12R-16B-HC-AVA, a half-cut cell with an average efficiency of 25.83% and average wattage of 4.93 W, and N-G12R-16B-FC-AVA, a full-cell variant with an average efficiency of 25.71% and average wattage of 9.83 W. The company had earlier listed G12 18-busbar half-cut and full-cell variants with average efficiencies of 25.63% and 25.57%, respectively.
Avaada Electro made its debut in the July 22, 2026, ALMM list, securing an enlistment for its 610 MW-per-annum solar cell manufacturing facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra, becoming one of the latest entrants to the country’s rapidly expanding domestic solar cell manufacturing base.
The company has advanced plans to build its 6 GW N-Type TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility at its integrated solar manufacturing plant in Butibori, Nagpur, on July 13. Avaada Electro, the manufacturing arm of Avaada Group, had then operationalised its first 3 GW production line, while the remaining capacity is under ramp-up.
