125 kW Hybrid Inverters: Why India’s C&I Solar Market Is Moving to a New Power Class Photograph: (AI)
India’s solar inverter market is entering a new phase. As commercial and industrial consumers increasingly look beyond conventional grid-connected solar, inverter manufacturers are moving hybrid systems into a power class that was until recently associated more with larger conventional string-inverter applications.
The 125 kW segment is emerging as one of the clearest examples of this shift. We have earlier seen Solis bringing its 125 kW hybrid inverter into the Indian C&I conversation. The company launched its S6-EH3P 75–125K series at REI 2025, combining PV inversion, battery charging and discharging, grid/off-grid switching and energy management in one system. The inverter can also be operated in parallel, taking the configuration to as much as 1.25 MW.
SolarYaan followed with a 5–125 kW three-phase hybrid inverter range, paired with modular storage batteries. The company described its 125 kW product as the first such offering available in the Indian market. The field is now widening. Deye has moved into the 125 kW category internationally, while its India team had earlier indicated plans to introduce a 125 kW hybrid inverter in the country. The company’s SUN-125K-SG02HP3 is a three-phase high-voltage hybrid platform with 10 MPPTs, battery integration and parallel operation. 
Sungrow has also entered the broader 125 kW C&I hybrid-storage space. Its PowerKeeper platform, showcased in 2026, combines a 125 kW hybrid inverter with 50 kWh battery stacks and can be configured for two to eight hours of backup. It is very likely that at the upcoming REI 2026 at Greater Noida, we can see many other inverter companies venturing into the new, more powerful hybrid market. This comes at a time when the demand for hybrid connections are on the rise. 
The answer lies largely in the changing economics of C&I solar and storage. A conventional C&I consumer may have historically installed a grid-connected PV inverter and treated the grid or diesel generator as the source of backup. But that architecture becomes less attractive when electricity tariffs, peak-demand charges and the value of uninterrupted supply are taken into account.
A 125 kW hybrid platform brings PV, battery storage, backup and energy management into a single power-conversion architecture. That is particularly relevant for factories, warehouses, hospitals, hotels, commercial buildings and other facilities where a power interruption can have a direct economic cost.
Solis, for instance, says its 125 kW system can switch between grid-connected and off-grid operation in less than 10 milliseconds and supports 160% overload for 200 milliseconds in off-grid operation. It also allows PV oversizing of up to two times the inverter’s rated capacity. 
This points to a second reason for the move: solar systems are getting larger while storage is becoming an integral part of the C&I proposition. Instead of installing separate PV inverters, battery PCS equipment, transfer switches and energy-management systems, the hybrid inverter increasingly becomes the central power-management platform.
In other words, the competition is no longer simply about converting DC electricity from panels into AC power. It is about controlling when solar power is consumed, stored, exported or used during a grid outage.
Despite the flurry of launches, it would be premature to describe 125 kW hybrid inverters as a mainstream Indian product category. The evidence currently points more toward an emerging market than an established one. The fact that multiple manufacturers are now positioning products around the 125 kW mark, however, is significant.
It suggests that the Indian inverter market is beginning to move away from the traditional division between small residential hybrid systems and much larger utility-scale power-conversion equipment.
