The business and investment network linked to the Del Castillo family is reinforcing its asset strategy in the renewable energy sector by promoting a new grid-connected photovoltaic plant in southern Gran Canaria. The project, processed within the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, mobilizes a direct economic investment of €2,9 million, consolidating the allocation of private capital towards decentralized electricity generation infrastructure in the archipelago.

The installation is technically located in the area known as Arpón Blanco, in the coastal town of Santa Águeda. The project report details an intensive industrial deployment of high-efficiency components to optimize energy performance in this southern location. The operational core of the solar park will consist of a total of 4.224 photovoltaic modules manufactured by the multinational Jinkosolar, corresponding to the Tiger Neo 72HL4-BDV model with glass-to-glass insulation technology and an N-type monocrystalline architecture. Each of these panels has a nominal power of 600 peak watts, designed to maximize the capture of solar radiation on specific support structures adapted to the southern terrain.

The transformation and management of the generated current is handled by a converter station equipped with eight Huawei inverters, ensuring optimal stability and performance parameters for energy injection. For the evacuation of the electricity produced, the access and connection point to the distribution network will be physically located at the designated support structure on the Cercado line, directly connected to the Arguineguín Substation. The execution of this technical operation requires the prior physical replacement of the existing support structure and the corresponding implementation of the operational boundary change protocols with the distribution company.

This injection of private capital and technological development directly addresses the macroeconomic decarbonization objectives set by the regional strategic framework, whose primary aim is to reduce the historical dependence on fossil fuels in the islands’ electricity systems. The progressive implementation of distributed generation in key locations in southern Gran Canaria increases the self-sufficiency of the transmission and distribution network, while simultaneously boosting the industrial sector specializing in the green transition.

Sector analysts point out that the viability and implementation schedule of these types of industrial initiatives depend critically on administrative agility and rigorous coordination between private promoters and competent public bodies, a necessary balance to accelerate the processing of renewable energy applications without compromising environmental preservation or the planning of the island’s territory.
