Waaree Clean Energy targets semiconductor, solar gas supply gap – Power Peak Digest

Waaree Clean Energy Solutions (WCES), a wholly owned subsidiary of Waaree Energies Limited, has entered India’s specialty gases business, targeting semiconductor and solar cell manufacturers with domestic supplies of high-purity process gases and chemicals.
WCES is developing a specialty gases plant at GIDC Saykha, Dahej, Gujarat, as India expands semiconductor and electronics manufacturing under the Semicon India 2.0 programme. The company said high-purity process gases and chemicals remain largely dependent on imports, creating a supply constraint for domestic manufacturers.
The new business is intended to establish WCES as a one-stop supplier for semiconductor and solar cell manufacturers, with the company planning to provide specialty gases, chemicals, supply systems and related management services across India.
Anuj Sharma, CEO, WCES, said: “Semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing cannot scale in India without a reliable, high-purity gas and chemical supply chain alongside it. This is a natural extension of our deep-tech manufacturing and clean energy expertise. It positions us to serve India’s fabs, OSAT and ATMP units, advanced electronics manufacturers and solar cell lines from day one, with product on the ground.”
Phased development
WCES plans to develop its specialty gases business in phases, beginning with warehousing infrastructure featuring multi-purpose storage and handling facilities designed to meet semiconductor-grade safety and purity standards.
The company is also establishing a dedicated unit for ultra-high-purity (UHP) Ammonia purification and a Phosphine/Hydrogen (PH₃/H₂) mixing plant for precision gas blends used in doping and deposition processes. UHP Oxygen will form another core process gas offering, while UHP Hydrogen is already commercially available from the company.
The development is intended to create domestic supply capacity alongside the expansion of semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing in India.
Gas and chemical portfolio
Beyond individual gases, WCES plans to provide customised gas and chemical supply systems and nitrogen plants. Its Total Gas & Chemical Management System will cover storage, delivery, safety monitoring and inventory management, allowing customers to outsource these functions while focusing on their manufacturing processes.
The planned UHP portfolio includes Silane, Ammonia, Nitrous Oxide, Phosphine mixtures, Boron Trichloride (BCl₃), Trimethyl Aluminium, Diborane, Germane/H₂ mixes, HBr, SF₆, Nitric Oxide, fluorinated gases and calibration gases. The company plans to support the portfolio through pan-India supply.
Clean energy integration
The specialty gases business builds on WCES’s existing clean energy manufacturing capabilities, including its electrolyser stack facility. The company said the new business is intended to grow alongside government-supported expansion in semiconductor and solar cell manufacturing and provide manufacturers with an alternative to imported supplies.
WCES provides integrated clean energy solutions across solar, green hydrogen, energy storage and emerging energy technologies, backed by the Waaree Energies group.
