BROOKINGS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The city of Brookings and Missouri River Energy Services celebrated the completion of the Brookings Solar Project.
The project adds locally produced energy to the community. It consists of over 2,000 solar panels covering roughly half of the 80-acre site.
“The city of Brookings and the municipal of Brookings has been outstanding. They are a big partner for us and helping us develop it. We are actually connecting to one of their local distributions, and we are working actively with them to get the connection completed, and they are going to help us with maintenance as well,” said Terry Wolf, VP and COO of Missouri River Energy Services.
The project increases MRES-owned solar capacity by nearly one-third to approximately 16 megawatts.
