Grundy Co. Committee Grants Extension For Solar Farm Project – WCSJ News

A special use petition for a solar farm project was granted a one-year extension at the Grundy County Land Use Committee meeting in late September. Grundy County Development Director Alec Macdonald explains details of the project and why an extension is needed. 
“Goose Lake Township Solar One LLC is requesting an extension of special use permit twenty five z b a zero one eight. This was originally approved by the Grundy County Board on October fourteenth of twenty twenty five pursuant to ordinance number twenty twenty five dash zero one six. Since approval, the project has advanced substantially through engineering, utility coordination, and preconstruction activities. The building permit application was submitted to Grundy County on July seventeenth, and the project is actively progressing through the building permit review process. The location is on three six three five North Erickson Road. project capacity slated for four point nine megawatts. It encompasses thirty acres of a forty acre parcel. Again, some of the highlights for progress, engineering procurement and construction contractor has been selected. Construction drawings are being finalized. Illinois shines adjustable block grant. Rec contract has been secured. Building permit application again submitted, and project is currently inactive building permit review.” 
Macdonald also had this to report about the extension. 
“Extension is granted for a one year period from the date of the October fourteenth twenty twenty five Grundy County Board approval, extending the construction commencement deadline to October fourteenth of twenty twenty seven. All conditions of approval detailed in special use permit number twenty five ZBA zero one eight remain attached to and enforceable under this extension and incorporated by reference in their entirety. They have been very responsive through the process. there’s been real. No issues with this. They are very close to actually closing this out. It’s just that leeway period right now where they do need to extend it out another year.” 
The Grundy County Board will have the final say on the extension at their meeting on October 13th.
