Planners have given the green light for a large new solar farm in east Donegal.
Irish Premium Solar Ltd plans to install the panels on a 13.88 hectare (32.9 acre) site at Tullydonnell Upper And Convoy Townparks, on the outskirts of Convoy.
The company’s directors are listed as Lettermacaward-based Edward and Marion Gallagher.
The development will consist of ‘linear arrays’ of solar photovoltaic panels on ground mounted frames over two adjacent plots. The site will include a 20kv electrical control building; perimeter fencing up to 2.5 metres high; and undergrounded electrical cable to connect the two separate solar farm plots.
The proposed development will have a 40-year operational lifespan from the date of commissioning.
Planning permission was granted subject to 19 conditions, including the payment of a development contribution of €300,000.
