India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy released the 12th edition of its Approved List of Models and Manufacturers List-II covering solar photovoltaic cells on 8 October 2026, via a memorandum from the Grid Solar Power division.
With this update, Gopin Semicon joins the ALMM List-II for solar PV cells, pushing the nation’s cumulative enlisted capacity to 37.8GW. The company’s plant at Gopin Industrial Park in Segva, Kamrej, Surat, Gujarat, received approval for 402MW of annual capacity.
Its approved model, GSPL_G12R, is built on N-type tunnel oxide passivated contact solar cells measuring 210mm by 182.2mm under the G12R format, featuring a 16-busbar layout and PID-free certification. Average conversion efficiency stands at 25.57%, with power output of 9.78W. The stated efficiency band spans 24.60% to 25.70%, while power output falls between 9.41W and 9.82W. Enlistment remains valid from 8 October 2026 through 7 October 2030.
This 12th edition comes after the 11th update of 5 October 2026, which brought in Premier Energies’ plant in Maheshwaram, Telangana. That entry covers bifacial monocrystalline silicon passivated emitter and rear cell solar cells, averaging 23.53% efficiency with 7.83W of power output.
The 11th edition additionally revised performance parameters for Renewsys India’s plant in Maheshwaram, Telangana, holding an enlisted capacity of 552MW per year for bifacial N-type TOPCon cells. Those cells measure 182.2mm by 183.75mm and use a 16-busbar layout.
Before that, the 10th edition, dated 28 September 2026, brought in Jupiter Solartech’s plant in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, with 1,297MW of annual capacity for bifacial N-type TOPCon solar cells. Those cells measure 182.3mm by 210mm and carry a 16-busbar layout. Their enlistment stays valid through 27 September 2030.
These consecutive editions illustrate the growth of India’s homegrown solar cell production base, as earlier ALMM List-II updates also featured manufacturers such as Reliance Industries, TP Solar and Waaree Energies.
In the past week, India’s MNRE floated a standardised naming system for solar PV cell models under ALMM List-II, proposing a 14-character alphanumeric code to denote cell origin, technology, wafer size and efficiency.
The ministry brought ALMM List-II for solar PV cells into force on 1 June 2026. MNRE later prolonged a limited exemption for specific net-metering and open-access renewable energy projects through 31 December 2026. In August 2026, the ministry released the list’s ninth edition, which introduced larger-format G12R n-type TOPCon cells.
