State Rep. Jed Davis is again raising concerns about staffing at the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
Davis alleges the agency is facing shortages among frontline staff and that audits have produced inconsistent results regarding vacancies.
In DeKalb County, Davis says the agency lists 13 workers, with 14 needed, but three of those workers are interns.
Davis says the concern is not whether the interns are receiving proper training or supervision, but whether they are independently leading investigations and being counted toward staffing levels as if they were filling investigator positions.
Davis was scheduled to meet with the state’s auditor general this week to discuss the issue.
