Alight acquires 2 GW Swedish solar and storage pipeline from Soltech – www.renewableenergymagazine.com

With the Soltech portfolio, Alight’s solar and storage development pipeline in the Nordics grows to more than 5 GW.
Alight, a leading Nordic solar developer and independent power producer, is taking over the utility-scale development portfolio of Soltech Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Soltech Energy Sweden. The transaction has been completed following approval from the Inspectorate of Strategic Products (ISP). The portfolio spans across electricity price areas SE3 and SE4 in southern Sweden.
“This acquisition further cements Alight’s position as one of the leading solar PV players in the Nordics” said Warren Campbell, CEO at Alight. “With over 5 GW now in our pipeline, we have the scale to keep growing in Sweden for years to come. A portfolio with secured land, permits in progress and room for battery storage lets us reach ready-to-build faster than greenfield development would allow.”
Alight will lead the continued development of the projects through permitting and grid connection processes towards the next phase where they will be ready-to-build. The projects will be developed for long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), under which Alight builds, owns and operates the solar parks and sells the electricity to commercial and industrial customers at a fixed, long-term price.
“We have spent several years building this portfolio and taking the projects from early development to today’s level of maturity” added Christoffer Caesar, CEO of Soltech Energy Solutions. “The projects are now entering a phase where a long-term investor is better placed to take them towards investment decision and construction. We look forward to continuing our good collaboration with Alight for many years to come.”
The acquisition builds on Alight’s position as one of the leading solar players in the Nordics. Alight recently inaugurated the 215 MWp Lidsø Solar Park on Lolland in Denmark, one of the largest solar parks in the Nordics, and in September the 101 MWp Eurajoki Solar Park in Finland with Autoliv. In 2024, Alight also acquired the 11 MW Ramsjöholm solar park in Falkenberg, developed and commissioned by Soltech.
