Kardemir, a Turkish producer of long steel products, has made a major move into renewable energy with a 120.5 MWp solar power investment, equivalent to 92.5 MW AC. The project will support the company’s steel production operations while helping reduce electricity costs and carbon emissions. The solar facility is expected to start operating in 2028, and the investment was estimated at 3.96 billion Turkish lira (~$80,567). The plan also supports Kardemir’s ambition to increase annual steel production capacity to 3 million tonnes while building a more efficient and low-carbon production system.
