Install solar panels on large bodies of water like Lake Wilson, Ala Wai Canal and Ho‘omaluhia Botanical Garden. The power generated by the panels will offset their cost and maintenance while supplying power to the grid.
Both the aquaponics and agrivoltaics systems would be on land under the solar panels. The agrivoltaics system would have grow beds about four to five feet above the ground and both systems would have LED lights above to provide 24/7 lighting powered by an attached battery system. Raising the agrivoltaic grow beds above the ground helps eliminate the effects of land flooding and will minimize both bugs and weeds.
The entire area could be fenced to let either goats or sheep roam the area to act as animal lawnmowers to keep the weeds and grass to a minimum. The result would be vegetables, fish, meat, cheese and milk. Wool if sheep are used.
