BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. – Butte County residents who have any unwanted solar panels now have a free way to recycle them through a new pilot program that is being launched.
Butte County Public Works, in partnership with the California Product Stewardship Council, is offering residential solar panel recycling drop-off on select Thursdays and Fridays over the remainder of October.
The program will take place at the Neal Road Recycling and Waste Facility, located at 1023 Neal Road in Paradise.
Drop-off dates for the program are scheduled for October 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 and 30.
Appointments are required, and each household may submit only one registration.
The program is open to Butte County residents, and all solar panels must come from within the county.
The pilot program is funded by a $50,000 Household Hazardous Waste grant awarded to Butte County in February 2026.
Residents who are interested in the program can register at surveymonkey.com/r/ButteSolarCollection.
