EWEC, the Emirates Water and Electricity Company, will use the 28th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition to show how its long-term strategic planning is being converted into delivery, according to TradeArabia News Service. The company is attending WETEX as a Strategic Sponsor and has been a partner and exhibitor at the event over an extended period, supporting it as a platform for sustainable energy innovation.
Forecasts cited in the source indicate that by 2035 more than 60 percent of Abu Dhabi electricity will come from sustainable sources, while reverse osmosis is expected to represent 92 percent of installed water capacity, a combination intended to secure a resilient water and electricity future for the UAE.
EWEC is integrating advanced generation and desalination technologies at the scale needed to meet rising demand in the UAE. At WETEX, it plans to set out the technical execution of this transition through a portfolio that includes some of the largest utility-scale solar photovoltaic plants globally, advanced battery energy storage systems, and one of the largest low-carbon-intensive reverse osmosis desalination facilities in the world.
The company leadership team will take the technical discussion into the exhibition seminar programme, covering grid stability, water system resilience, solar power development and EWEC upcoming projects.
Mohamed Almarzooqi, Chief Assets Officer of EWEC, indicated that demand for water and electricity across the UAE continues to rise and that new sources of demand are emerging. He said EWEC plans and procures transformative water and electricity capacity years ahead of need, and that at WETEX the company will outline its strategic roadmap while showcasing technological advancements and existing deployments across its reverse osmosis and solar photovoltaic infrastructure.
Almarzooqi also commented that executing an energy transition of this scale requires deep, strategic collaboration with stakeholders, and encouraged industry partners and developers to visit the EWEC stand and engage with its technical experts on efforts to shape a secure, cost-efficient and sustainable energy sector for the nation.
EWEC will additionally hold dedicated sessions on Clean Energy Certificates, described as a globally recognised mechanism for verifying renewable and clean electricity consumption. As Single Registrant and Scheme Operator, EWEC issues certificates that allow organisations across the UAE to substantiate their renewable and clean electricity use and reduce their Scope 2 emissions.
