Qcells has unveiled intentions to introduce updated iterations of its home solar panel lineup equipped with aluminum frames produced domestically before 2026 concludes. The refreshed products, encompassing the Q.Tron AC and Q.Peak Duo AC ranges, will feature frames that undergo extrusion, anodization and fabrication at the Halls, Tennessee integrated plant belonging to supplier Aluko Group.
This effort seeks to assist residential installers and third-party ownership providers in securing eligibility for the Investment Tax Credit domestic content bonus adder. Per Treasury Department domestic content rules, solar equipment must satisfy particular domestic manufacturing benchmarks to receive the 10% tax credit bonus. Qcells observed that retaining all three core frame manufacturing phases within the United States offers installers and financing partners enhanced clarity when assessing compliance.
The domestic frame offering arrives as the statutory domestic content threshold for clean energy projects starts escalating toward 55% for projects beginning construction in 2027.
Il Hyeong No, who leads Qcells North America’s residential business, stated that the partnership to produce modules with domestic frames advances the company’s dedication to U.S. manufacturing, backs clean and affordable energy and provides customers with the certainty required to qualify projects for the domestic content bonus.
Aluko Group’s manufacturing facility in Lauderdale County, Tennessee, is anticipated to achieve full commercial production before the end of 2026. When operational, the plant is designed to have yearly capacity for manufacturing sufficient frames to support 4 GW of solar modules.
Aluko intends to invest over $107 million in the facility across five years, generating 285 full-time positions. The company characterizes its plant as the sole U.S. facility conducting all three major frame production steps beneath a single roof.
Jinwoo Park, president of Aluko Group, stated that performing extrusion, anodizing and fabrication within the United States yields a product delivering transparency and confidence throughout every stage of the process.
The initiative extends Qcells’ wider domestic manufacturing drive throughout its vertically integrated operations in Dalton and Cartersville, Georgia, where the company runs large-scale module and component assembly operations.
