FIMER launches 2 MW central inverter for utility-scale solar – pv magazine India

FIMER has introduced the PVS990-2000, a 2 MW central inverter designed for utility-scale solar applications. The inverter platform offers power ratings ranging from 2,000 kVA to 8,000 kVA, with a scalable architecture intended to support multi-megawatt solar plants while optimizing system efficiency and reducing installation time.
The PVS990-2000 supports DC input voltages of up to 1,500 V and has a DC operating voltage range of 935 V to 1,350 V. According to the product specifications, the inverter has a maximum DC current of 2,300 A and supports up to seven DC inputs.
FIMER reports a maximum efficiency of 99% or higher and a European efficiency of 98.8% or higher for the PVS990-2000.
The inverter incorporates grid-support functions, including power quality management and fault ride-through (FRT) capabilities. It also supports parallel operation, night-time reactive power compensation, and communication with up to five master units.
Other features include global grid compliance, comprehensive AC- and DC-side protection, and simplified commissioning without the need for a separate chiller installation. The inverter supports industrial data communication through supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. FIMER also offers lifecycle services and support through its global service network.
“The PVS990 is the result of FIMER’s continued investment in R&D, shaped by the evolving needs and feedback of our customers across the global utility-scale market,” said KN Sreevatsa, Group Co-CEO, FIMER. “We have brought together decades of power-electronics expertise, advanced engineering and real-world project insights to create a platform that is distinctive in its scalability, performance and grid-support capabilities. With the PVS990, we are redefining what customers can expect from Utility scale solar & storage systems.”
The inverter is housed in an IP65-rated outdoor enclosure measuring 956 mm × 2,300 mm × 2,000 mm and weighing approximately 1,500 kg. It is designed to operate at ambient temperatures ranging from -20 degrees C to +60 degrees C, with power derating starting at 52 degrees C.
