Jakson Group to Invest 6.8k cr in Andhra Plant – TradingView

Nidhi Sharma New Delhi: Jakson Group, one of India's largest solar module manufacturers, plans to invest 6,863 crore in an integrated solar manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district to produce 10 GW of silicon ingots and wafers and 5 GW of solar cells.
The Noida-based group will set up the plant at Meedivemula village in Orvakal mandal. According to sources, the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), led by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has recommended allotting 290 acres to Jakson Integrated Solar for the project. The plant will be developed in three phases and employ about 2,000 people.
The first phase, with capacity for 3 GW of ingots and wafers and 3 GW of solar cells, is targeted to begin commercial production in May 2028. The remaining capacity is scheduled to come on stream by 2030. Jakson, which operates a 1.2 GW module plant in Greater Noida, will move further up the value chain with the project. Andhra Pradesh's Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024, targets 20 GW of solar manufacturing capacity across the value chain.
The state has already surpassed that target. According to SIPB papers, approved projects, excluding Jakson's, account for 58.74 GW of cell and module capacity and 48 GW of ingot and wafer capacity. "Andhra Pradesh is committed to building a world-class solar manufacturing ecosystem, backed by cutting-edge research, innovation and a highly skilled workforce," said Andhra Pradesh HRD, IT and electronics minister Nara Lokesh. "Our ambition is to make Andhra Pradesh a leading hub for advanced solar manufacturing and clean-energy technologies." Several major industry players are investing in renewable energy projects in Andhra Pradesh.
ReNew Energy Global began work in April on a 4,200 crore, 6.5 GW ingot and wafer plant at Rambilli in Anakapalli district, part of its 82,000 crore commitment to the state. In Kurnool, the state has approved Agastya Green Energy's 7,799.96 crore, 12 GW ingot and wafer plant at Orvakal.
Indosol Solar is building a polysilicon-to-module complex in Prakasam district, with a planned investment of about 69,000 crore. On September 21, Premier Energies commissioned a 7 GW N-type TOPCon solar cell plant at Naidupeta, built at a cost of 3,293 crore.
The company describes it as India's largest solar cell plant. The facility takes Premier's total solar cell capacity to 10.6 GW. In August, the state's Centre of Excellence for Energy Transition, IIT Tirupati and the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, agreed to set up a Centre of Excellence for Solar Manufacturing at IIT Tirupati. UNSW will design courses on cell manufacturing, ingot making and wafering.
