India’s ALMM or cell manufacturing capacity headed towards the 45 GW mark, with the latest update from the MNRE (Ministry of New And Renewable Energy) adding two more new names to the list, Grew Solar and Ampin Solar, besides a significant capacity addition from Avaada Electro.
While Grew solar debuted with a 2.4 GW TOPCon cell capacity addition, Ampin entered with a 1060 MW Mono-Perc capacity. Avaada added close to 3 GW of fresh capacity to take its overall total to 7117 MW.
For Grew Solar, the present approval is part of an 8 GW cell manufacturing pan at its facility in narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh. Commenting on the development, Vinay Thadani, Director and CEO, said “The ALMM List-II approval for our 2.4GW N-Type TOPCon G12R cell manufacturing capacity is an important milestone. It reflects our dedication to advancing India’s solar growth journey and presents a significant opportunity to build world-class production capabilities alongside renewable energy deployment. Our state-of-the-art Solar PV cell manufacturing facility reflects our support for the nation’s vision of a sustainable energy future, technological advancement,
and innovation.”
The additions also underline the continued rise of TOPcon as the preferred option for solar makers in India, with overall TOPCon capacity now close to 25 GW. A number of fresh additions are expected by December this year, which should take overall capacity to over 55 GW by year end.
