Rivington Energy secures Cheshire solar consent – reNEWS

Rivington Energy has secured planning permission on appeal for the 27.15MW Mowcroft Solar Farm in Cuerdley, Warrington, Cheshire.
The company said the Planning Inspector upheld the appeal almost a year after Warrington Borough Council refused the project in October 2025.
Rivington Energy added that the solar farm, developed in partnership with European Energy UK Ltd, will generate enough electricity to power over 9,000 homes annually once operational.
The proposed project covers approximately 32 hectares of land at Fowl Farm, west of Warrington and northeast of Widnes.
Solar panels will be installed in east-to-west rows, tilted towards the south to maximise solar irradiation.
The appeal was supported by Third Revolution Projects, Abseline Landscape Planning, Kernon Countryside Consultants Limited, Michelmores LLP and No.5 Chambers.
“Mowcroft Solar Farm is a well-designed project that received positive feedback from both local and statutory stakeholders during the comprehensive development process,” said Rivington Energy chief operating officer Jonathan Plumb.
“Our experienced team have successfully delivered over 1.25GW of consented renewable energy projects since 2021 and are passionate about delivering innovative energy solutions to support energy security in the UK.”
