Luminous uses a child’s curiosity to spotlight solar energy in latest Diwali film – Campaign Brief Asia

Set against the backdrop of a family preparing for Diwali, the film follows a young boy whose fascination with the sun leads him to imagine who switches on its lights. While his family is immersed in the hustle and bustle of Diwali preparations, his curiosity goes largely unnoticed. Determined to find an answer, he observes the sunrise and tries to share his discovery with his family, but the festive rush leaves little room for his seemingly unusual question.
Just when his enthusiasm begins to fade, an unexpected power cut in the neighbourhood changes everything. As the family looks at their partially lit home and the brightly illuminated house across the street, the boy spots something that explains the difference: solar panels on the neighbouring rooftop. His observation brings the family closer to understanding the possibilities of harnessing the Sun’s energy.
By placing a child at the heart of an energy-led narrative, the campaign humanises innovation and shows how curiosity can challenge conventional thinking and unlock new possibilities. The narrative also brings solar energy into the festive conversation, positioning it as an opportunity to rethink how homes and communities can be powered. The campaign uses the emotional appeal of Diwali and the innocence of a child’s imagination to communicate a larger message: meaningful innovation often starts with a simple question, an unexpected thought or the courage to see things differently.
The film culminates in the message, “Is Diwali, sirf diye se ghar nahi, apni soch se har zindagi roshan karo”, reinforcing the idea that the true spirit of illumination extends beyond physical light. With the closing thought, “Apni soch ka diya jalao”, Luminous encourages audiences to embrace fresh perspectives and discover new possibilities this festive season.
Neelima Burra, SVP – Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, Luminous Power Technologies, said, “Diwali is that special time of year when homes glow a little brighter, families come closer, and even the smallest moments bring the greatest joy. With our Diwali film, we wanted to capture this festive warmth through the eyes of a curious young boy, whose perspective allows us to look at energy differently and reminds us that even the simplest thought can inspire a brighter possibility. Just as we look forward to lighting up our homes during the festival, it is heartening to see how solar can bring new possibilities to the way we power them. This Diwali, we hope our film brings a smile to viewers and inspires them to see the light and possibilities all around us.”
