A green energy company is inviting residents to have their say on plans for a new solar farm.
Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru has launched a statutory pre-application consultation for the proposed Larnog Solar Farm in Lavernock, which runs from November 11 until December 15, 2026.
The renewable energy company is owned by the Welsh Government and operates in the interests of Wales, returning profits to the government.
Located between Sully and Penarth, the proposed solar farm would deliver around 35MW of clean energy, enough to power approximately 13,800 average Welsh homes.
Daniel Patterson, project manager at Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru, said: “We’re looking forward to returning to the local community following our informal consultation earlier this year, which gave us a valuable opportunity to hear from residents.
“Since then, we have carefully considered the feedback received, spoken to local experts, and carried out further site surveys.
“All this information has been used to shape the project’s design.
“This statutory consultation period offers another opportunity for residents to provide feedback, to ensure this project delivers lasting benefits for the Vale of Glamorgan.”
Plans for the site include measures to enhance biodiversity, as well as an annual community benefit fund of £400 per MW of installed capacity.
Over the lifetime of the project, this would total more than £500,000.
Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru will host two public drop-in events at Lower Penarth Community Hall during the consultation period.
The first event will take place on Friday, November 13, 2026, from 3pm to 7pm, and the second on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 10am to 2pm.
Residents will be able to view project information boards and maps, review the draft planning application, and share their feedback in person.
Full consultation materials and an online feedback form will be available throughout the consultation period at the Trydan Gwyrdd Cymru website.
