CHESAPEAKE — Fire crews responded to a fire Thursday morning at the NextEra Energy Resources Solar Farm.
Firefighters were dispatched at 9:41 a.m. after receiving reports of a fire and when they arrived they found a tranformer on fire in the solar field, along with a small grass fire nearby. The solar farm is located at 1341 Shillelagh Road in the Great Bridge section of Chesapeake.
The transformer fire had ignited the surrounded grass, representatives from the solar farm said.
Less than an hour later, at 10:29 a.m., firefighters extinguished both fires.
There were no injuries from either fire.
