China-headquartered solar manufacturer JA made the Australian debut of its HyperGen Pro solar module and JA ESS 125 kW / 261 kWh liquid-cooled commercial and industrial (C&I) battery energy storage system at All Energy Australia 2026.
Designed for the Australian market, the HyperGen Pro features a 1,762 mm module format. The white variant delivers up to 510 W of power output at a maximum efficiency of 25.5%, while the all-black version offers up to 505 W at 25.3% efficiency.
The HyperGen Pro is based on JA ‘s Hycium n-type back-contact cell technology, which positions all electrodes on the rear of the cells, eliminating front-side grid lines. Combined with zero-busbar (0BB) interconnection technology and a full-screen design, the architecture increases the light-receiving area while providing a uniform appearance, particularly in the all-black version.
JA said the HyperGen Pro weighs 12% to 14% less than comparable dual-glass modules of the same format, reducing rooftop structural loads, improving heat dissipation and allowing single-person handling. The lighter design makes the module suitable for commercial and industrial buildings with limited roof load capacity.
The module has an HW4 hail-resistance rating and can reportedly withstand hailstones up to 40 mm in diameter, addressing reliability concerns in hail-prone regions such as Victoria, New South Wales and southeast Queensland.
A chemically etched, micro-textured glass surface converts specular reflection into diffuse reflection, reducing glare and addressing reflected-light concerns in urban environments.
The HyperGen Pro has a power temperature coefficient of −0.26%/C. JA Solar specifies first-year degradation of 1%, followed by annual linear degradation of 0.35%.
The module also incorporates a bypass design enabled by its back-contact cell architecture to mitigate power losses under partial shading and reduce hot-spot temperatures. The feature is designed to improve performance under common rooftop shading conditions caused by trees, chimneys and bird droppings.
JA Solar East Asia and South Pacific Region Vice President Daniel Li said Australia is one of the world’s most demanding rooftop solar markets.
“[It has] intense solar irradiance, challenging rooftop installation conditions, frequent hailstorms and a rapid shift towards integrated solar-plus-storage solutions,” Li said. “HyperGen Pro was developed with these conditions in mind, combining a lighter design, enhanced hail resistance and reliable performance in high temperatures.”
JA ESS: 125 kW / 261 kWh Liquid-Cooled C&I Energy Storage
The JA ESS liquid-cooled C&I energy storage system combines multiple safety measures, energy efficiency and intelligent operation and maintenance (O&M) capabilities.
Safety is supported by millisecond-level insulation monitoring, a three-tier fire and explosion protection architecture, and real-time battery pack monitoring. Working together, these measures enable early detection of potential thermal runaway risks and provide multiple layers of protection throughout system operation.
The system uses long-life lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and achieves round-trip efficiency of up to 88%. Its liquid-cooling design also reduces auxiliary power consumption by 10%, helping improve overall system efficiency and long-term project economics.
For ongoing operations, built-in AI-powered predictive maintenance is designed to minimise unplanned downtime and simplify fault management. According to JA, these capabilities can reduce downtime by up to 90% and enable more than 90% of system faults to be resolved remotely. A modular design further simplifies on-site inspection and component replacement, helping reduce maintenance requirements and operating costs over the system’s lifetime.
DeepBlue 5.0
JA also showcased the DeepBlue 5.0 n-type TOPCon series at All Energy, extending its module offering across residential rooftops, commercial and industrial installations, and utility-scale projects.
For residential applications, the 485 W JAM48D51 LR all-black module combines Tri-Cut cell architecture with Bycium+ 5.0 cell technology and 20-busbar (20BB) current collection, delivering a 0.25% improvement in low-light output.
For larger commercial, industrial and ground-mounted installations, JA presented the 550 W JAM54D50 GR and 670 W JAM66D50 GB modules. The 670 W model offers a bifaciality of 85% ± 5%, a power temperature coefficient of −0.26%/C, and a degradation rate of 1% in the first year, followed by 0.35% annually thereafter.
