Soluxtec resumes TOPCon solar module production in Germany – pv magazine Global

German solar module manufacturer Soluxtec has resumed production at its facility in Trier-Föhren, Germany, following its acquisition by Chinese PV manufacturer Ronmaa and a comprehensive upgrade of its existing production lines.
The company said it is now manufacturing solar modules based on tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) technology using G12-format cells, replacing the M10 format previously used at the facility. Soluxtec described the transition as “a core component of Soluxtec’s product and manufacturing strategy.”
Production will be ramped up gradually over the coming weeks, the company said without disclosing the annual production capacity of the modernized facility.
Soluxtec said its partnership with Romna will also support the expansion of its research and development activities. It added that its German manufacturing operations will provide a foundation for developing new PV products for residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) applications.
Soluxtec filed for insolvency in April 2026, citing intense international competition and declining solar module prices. The Bitburg District Court appointed Jakob Joeres of German auditing and consulting firm dhpg as provisional insolvency administrator. At the time, the company employed 70 people across its manufacturing operations in Bitburg and Föhren, where it had produced solar modules for 15 years.
Soluxtec’s management said at the time that it intended to maintain module deliveries, preserve jobs and seek investors to support a restructuring of the business.
The insolvency came amid sustained pressure on European solar manufacturers from low module prices and competition from overseas suppliers. European TOPCon module prices fell sharply in 2024, with weak demand and high inventories adding to the challenges facing manufacturers and distributors.
