The project in the city of Alba Iulia is currently in the early stages of construction and includes both the photovoltaic installation works and the high-voltage infrastructure required for grid connection, Enexus said in a press release announcing the signing of an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract.
The planned transformer substation represents a critical infrastructure for integrating the power plant into Romania’s national transmission grid and ensuring system stability and reliable energy delivery, it added.

Projects that include robust grid connection infrastructure and integration capabilities are becoming essential for system stability and long-term asset performance as Romania’s renewable energy market is experiencing rapid growth, Enexus noted.
“The next phase of the market will favor companies capable of delivering not only energy, but also stability and real grid integration,” said Enexus CEO Mesut Güler.
Enexus’ partner on the project, Astor Enerji, has recently accelerated its regional expansion strategy and is actively strengthening its presence in Romania, both through renewable energy developments and associated energy infrastructure projects, according to the press release.

For Astor, Romania represents a strategic market for its regional growth, where energy infrastructure will play a critical role in the years ahead, said Fadil Fedai, Astor’s country manager in Romania.
Enexus is a renewable energy company specializing in EPC services, asset management, and investment facilitation for solar and energy storage projects. It is active in Romania, Turkey, Italy, and Ukraine.
