Stibbe advised Reno.energy, Wallonie Entreprendre and Virya Energy (Colruyt group) on the structuring and launch of their joint venture, Virya Reno C&I Investments, a new financing platform for large-scale photovoltaic installations targeting Belgian companies and institutions.
The platform is designed to remove one of the main barriers to the deployment of solar energy infrastructure: financing. By taking on the investment in photovoltaic installations, Virya Reno C&I Investments enables companies and institutions to access local, competitive and price- predictable energy, without tying up capital on their balance sheet.
The joint venture’s objective is to finance 100 MWp of solar installations. Its first project, a solar canopy comprising 24,000 panels on Knauf’s industrial site in Visé, is already underway.
