DTE Energy completes construction at 100MW Cold Creek Solar Park in Michigan – Mjengo Hub

Editor | Quantity Surveyor
Michigan utility provider DTE Energy has completed construction on the 100MW Cold Creek Solar Park located near Coldwater in southern Michigan. The solar installation forms part of a broader 650MW photovoltaic portfolio tied to an offtake agreement signed with automaker Ford Motor Company in 2022.
The project was developed through DTE’s CleanVision MIGreenPower program, which enables participating homes and businesses to attribute their electricity consumption directly to regional renewable energy assets. Energy generated from the Cold Creek facility will support Ford’s corporate decarbonization goals, aligning with broader initiatives ensuring that every vehicle manufactured across Michigan is assembled using the equivalent of 100% carbon-free electricity.
The completion of the Cold Creek project follows several utility-scale solar milestones for DTE Energy, building upon earlier commercial launches including the 195MW Mission Road plant and the 146MW Fish Creek photovoltaic facility. State utility expansion underscores a growing reliance on large-scale solar developments to satisfy industrial decarbonization commitments and expand regional clean energy infrastructure.
