US solar and battery storage financing activity has produced a trio of transactions spanning the Northeast and the consumer and small commercial segment, according to a round-up published by pv-tech.org.
CleanChoice Energy has secured more than US$166 million in financing for two solar photovoltaic projects in the US Northeast, the Dolan project in New York at roughly 27MW and the Kylertown project in Pennsylvania at roughly 28MW.
The package included a US$105 million construction loan from Investec Bank, which acted as lead arranger, green loan structuring agent and collateral agent. BHI, the US branch of Bank Hapoalim, BM and Stifel Bank served as coordinating lead arrangers. Advantage Capital supplied a US$61 million tax equity commitment for the portfolio. Both projects are expected to reach commercial operations in 2027.
Separately, distributed energy company Maxwell Power has closed an US$800 million investment from private equity firm Fairtide Partners to acquire battery storage and solar PV power projects. The deal follows investments of US$250 million and US$750 million in 2024 and June 2026, lifting Fairtide’s total commitment to US$1.8 billion for projects developed by Maxwell.
Maxwell said it has helped its consumer and small commercial customers achieve US$100 million in future energy savings so far this year. The company also relocated its headquarters from San Diego, California, to Salt Lake City, Utah, a move it described as fulfilling a promise to Utah Senator John Curtis.
In a third transaction, independent power producer Lydian Energy and infrastructure asset manager Infranity agreed on a US$300 million holding company credit facility intended to support expansion of Lydian’s 6GW portfolio of solar PV and utility-scale battery energy storage systems.
The bespoke facility is based on Lydian Energy’s existing operating and construction-ready assets and is designed to give the company added flexibility to accelerate build-out of its business pipeline. Lydian said the financing will help it advance projects from development through construction and retain ownership of operating assets. Lydian Energy is backed by Exelsior Energy Capital.
Sacha Kamp, global head of debt investment at Infranity, characterized the transaction as resting on a portfolio of high-quality contracted projects and a strong pipeline of energy infrastructure assets developed and owned by Lydian, adding that the support of an experienced and committed sponsor provides a foundation for long-term growth.
