A solar PV project of more than 550 MW in Greece is to be acquired from Lightsource bp by Masdar, a UAE-based clean energy company. The deal was announced on 24 October 2026, and the plant has been described by Masdar as one of the largest solar projects in the country. It is due to start operating by the end of 2026, and its output will then be enough to power more than 200,000 homes a year. The transaction also includes two privately owned substations, which connect the project to the transmission system. Masdar, for its part, plans to add battery storage to the plant in order to support grid stability in Greece. The purchase is the first investment that Masdar has made through TERNA ENERGY, which it took private in 2025. Subject to regulatory approval, the transaction is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
