DTE Energy’s 132-MW Fish Creek Solar Park near Sheridan, Michigan, is now operational. The $268 million development was fully funded by customers who voluntarily participate in DTE’s MIGreenPower program. The solar park can generate enough energy to power approximately 30,000 homes.
“Our customers expect us to keep the lights on and keep bills as affordable as possible, and bringing new generation like Fish Creek online is part of how we deliver on that commitment,” said Matt Paul, president and COO of DTE Electric. “Fish Creek adds more Michigan-made energy to our system while supporting local jobs, generating new tax revenue and delivering lasting benefits for the communities that helped make this project possible.”
Fish Creek will generate tax revenue, supporting regional infrastructure, such as schools, first responders, road maintenance and veteran and senior citizen services. The solar park also created hundreds of local jobs during construction and will provide participating landowners with supplemental income.
In addition, Bushnell and Evergreen townships each received $330,000 through Michigan’s Renewables Ready Communities Award, a grant available to local governments that host large-scale renewable energy projects. The townships plan to invest the funding in town hall and fire station renovations, along with other community improvements.
Fish Creek is part of DTE’s broader plan to meet Michigan’s growing energy needs with a mix of resources. DTE currently has 20 wind parks and 37 solar parks across Michigan, which together generate enough clean energy to power nearly 1 million homes. DTE’s 2026 Integrated Resource Plan includes an additional 15 GW of renewable energy by 2042.
