Chinese wafer and module manufacturer Gokin Solar has introduced a new single-glass solar module series for the Australian residential and commercial markets. The framed glass-backsheet panel features 108 N-type back-contact (BC) half-cells sourced from fellow Chinese manufacturer Aiko.
“We have a lot of partners like Jinko, Trina, Astronergy, and Aiko that we sell our wafers to, and in turn we buy cells from them,” Gokin Australia Manager Charles Guo said.
“Because we control our own wafers, we can buy these cells with no limitations. Our BC cells are from Aiko and we source TOPcon cells from other partners.”
Guo said the arrangement allows Gokin to provide premium products for its customers with the company claiming its BC platform produces 6–10% more output than TOPCon products for the same installed area.
“Where the roof plane is the binding constraint, this differential directly reduces the number of modules required and the associated mounting and cabling labour,” Gokin said.
The BC GK-3-54HGF module series includes four variants ranging from 495 W to 510 W. All modules are Clean Energy Council (CEC) certified. Maximum module efficiencies range from 24.3% up to 25%, with a maximum system voltage rating of 1,500 V and a 25 A maximum series fuse rating.
The single-glass panel measures 1,800 mm × 1,134 mm × 30 mm and weighs 21.4 kg. For mechanical durability, the module is rated for a 5,400 Pa front load and 2,400 Pa back load, while the 3.2 mm tempered glass offers hail resistance capable of withstanding impacts up to 25 mm at 23 m/s.
The modules feature a black anodised aluminum frame, an IP-68 rated junction box, and are rated for operating temperatures of −40℃to +85℃.
Gokin backs the BC GK-3-54HGF module series with a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year linear performance guarantee covering a maximum first-year power degradation of 1.0% followed by an annual degradation rate of 0.35%, guaranteeing at least 88.85% of original nameplate output at year 30.
Guo said he expects the BC GK-3-54HGF module series to be available in Australia from early 2027.
The unveiling of the modules series coincided with Gokin announcing it had signed agreements with OSW, GBP, and Peak Energy.
The company said these partnerships mark a significant step in expanding Gokin’s footprint across the Australian market.
