NWU empowers 30 SMME contractors through electrical and solar PV training – NWU News

The North-West University (NWU) successfully implemented an Electrical and Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Skills Training Programme aimed at strengthening the technical capacity of local small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs).
The programme benefited the contractors from local municipalities surrounding the university’s three campuses.
The training covered basic foundational knowledge and practical skills in electrical wiring, renewable energy technologies, and solar PV systems and installation.  Safe working practices and basic system sizing calculations were also covered.
The initiative aimed to equip emerging contractors with the technical competencies needed to explore opportunities in the electrical, construction, and renewable energy sectors.
The graduation ceremony recognised the participants’ commitment and achievements, and highlighted the NWU’s continued commitment to enterprise supplier development, skills empowerment, and local economic participation.
Through this initiative, the NWU continues to invest in local SMMEs by promoting skills development, business growth and sustainable economic opportunities within its surrounding communities.
