Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Limited (SWREL) , the Reliance backed renewable EPC has announced that the company has been declared as L1 bidder in a tender of Coal India Limited for a turn-key EPC package for development of a 875 MW (AC) grid connected Solar PV Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, India. The total value of contract including O&M and taxes is ~INR 3,490 crore.
The company also confirmed an order for a 50 MW AC project in Maharashtra, India from a leading Indian Private IPP. Shares of the firm spiked over 15% on news of the announcement at the NSE.
With these new order wins, the total value of EPC order inflow in FY26 has exceeded INR 10,062 crore. The firm, which has been on a slow recovery from a slump post Fy 21, would seem to have finally turned around its operations with these wins, withe the likelihood of strong continuing growth in a growing market. In recent years, especially post the Reliance acquisition of a significant stake in the firm, it has been on a clean up drive, exiting many overseas projects in lieu of a stronger domestic focus. It has also moved in the fast growing BESS EPC space. The firm remains one of the largest players in the space in India, wioth a particularly strong footprint among leading power firms including NTPC, which has provided better visibility on payments and project execution.
Speaking on the order wins,Chandra Kishore Thakur, Global CEO, Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Group shared, “We are delighted to announce our first project from Coal India, and to partner in their renewable energy growth story. We are excited to close an eventful FY26 on a strong note and achieve more than INR 10,000 crore in EPC order inflows, which is significantly higher than our initial target set for the year. India continues to remain on a strong growth trajectory in renewable development and as one of India’s leading solar EPC companies we continue to look forward to sustaining the growth momentum.”
