Brazilian water tank maker presents new floating PV solution – pv magazine Global

Brazil-based Fortlev Solar has presented Aquafort, a floating PV system developed for reservoirs, lakes, ponds and dams, at Intersolar South America 2026, held from Aug. 25 to 27 at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo.
The modular polyethylene structure uses central and walkway floats to support PV modules while providing access for maintenance crews during inspections and servicing.
The company said the system can withstand waves of up to 1 meter and wind speeds of up to 45 m/s. It said the system enables the use of water surfaces for power generation without foundations and offers resistance to corrosion and solar radiation.
The floating structures are made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and are available in different configurations for module support, intermediate connections and maintenance access. The system includes four main float types – P01, P02, P03 and P04 – along with plastic fasteners, load diffusers, and front and rear module supports. The P04 float is designed to provide maintenance access within the floating array.
Aquafort is compatible with M10 and M12 module formats. The product datasheet specifies M10 modules with widths of around 1.13 meters and lengths ranging from 1.72 meters to 2.28 meters, while M12 modules are approximately 1.30 meters wide and between 1.75 meters and 2.38 meters long. Fortlev Solar said the module format must be selected during the plant layout stage because it directly affects the design of the flotation, anchoring and structural systems.
The individual floats have structural load capacities ranging from 100 kg to 120 kg, depending on the model, and specified tensile capacities ranging from 800 kg to 1,200 kg. The company estimates that an Aquafort installation requires around 7,500 square meters of water surface per MWp of installed PV capacity.
The system uses dedicated walkway and intermediate floats to provide access through the array, while plastic bolts connect adjoining float elements. Load diffusers are installed at specific points in the system, including along the sides of the array and in front of module-support floats.
Fortlev Solar lists a 25-year service life and a 10-year manufacturing warranty for the floats.
“The system is part of the company’s strategy to expand its proprietary product portfolio to accommodate a wider range of project configurations,” Fortlev Solar President Vladimir Soares told pv magazine.
The portfolio on display at the trade fair also includes Condufort, a corrugated conduit designed to protect cables in PV projects and other electrical installations. The company said the product is intended to improve protection against external elements and reduce the risk of technical failures.
