Alpex Solar Ltd has inaugurated a 2.2 GW tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) solar cell manufacturing facility at the Kosi Kotwan Industrial Area in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh, expanding the company’s manufacturing capabilities further upstream in the solar photovoltaic (PV) value chain.
Spread across 9 lakh sq ft, the facility will manufacture G12R TOPCon solar cells. The company said the new capacity will strengthen its ability to serve the domestic solar PV market while adding cell manufacturing capabilities to its existing operations.
Manufacturing expansion
The new facility marks an expansion of Alpex Solar’s manufacturing portfolio beyond its existing solar module manufacturing and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) activities.

The company operates multiple manufacturing facilities across Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, with an integrated portfolio covering solar PV cells and modules, EPC solutions, solar pumps and aluminium frames.
Capacity expansion
Alpex Solar’s existing operations in Greater Noida are set to expand through five new manufacturing units across Greater Noida, Kosi-Kotwan in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The newly inaugurated 2.2 GW TOPCon cell facility takes the company’s manufacturing operations further upstream.
The company’s longer-term expansion plans have also included wafer and ingot manufacturing, as well as solar glass.
